Carolyn Denver grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and developed an interest in art from her earliest years. As a child, she studied with Betty Dickerson at the Wichita Center for the Arts. In 1993, she earned a B.F.A. in studio arts from Wichita State University with emphasis in painting and art history.
Although Carolyn has experience in several mediums, including oil, watercolor, pastel and printmaking, oil painting remains her passion. She particularly enjoys plein air (outdoor, on-site) painting.
“Resolving the complications of fleeting light and shadow, color effects and atmospheric mood is a continuous learning process with infinite possibilities.” Carolyn believes there is a need in every human being to relate to the natural environment. People are drawn to the permanent, enduring quality found in the landscape.
It has been said that “the confluence of the tangible and the spiritual is where Art comes from.” “It is my goal that an element of the spiritual be communicated through my work.”
