At times I think about who might have influenced my work. Probably the most influential was my interest in Braque, Gris and Picasso and abstract impressionists during my college days. A strong grounding in design fundamentals and composition has helped. I look for compositions in everyday abstract designs that appear in and on streets, textures on walls, etc.
I regard myself as an artist, not local, regional, national or international. When traveling I always visit museums and art galleries. I find that I am not far removed from work being done by artists in other parts of the country or world.
I paint basically for myself and have never felt a need to express in art work my thought about issues political or social. There are those that can do that better than I.
