Thomas Montgomery

I have been interested in art all my life. So, as I searched for a carrier path, I learned about the field of landscape architecture. I decided, after some research, this was a profession that incorporated Art and Design and would satisfy my need for art in my professional life.

I spent the next 40 years practicing in the profession of Landscape Architecture and enjoyed every minute. As I saw my retirement approaching, I knew I wanted to get back to my real passion – my artwork. So, I started taking classes at City Arts and the Wichita Center for the Arts. My goal was to familiarize myself and work with as many different media as I could to find out which I enjoyed most. Watercolor and pastel are what I find most appealing and have discovered that my passion is painting people and animals, even though the previous 40 years of my life was concerned with landscape. I guess you could say … I’ve been there and done that.

I have done several commissions that have been successful and have some examples here on this website for you to view. If you are interested in having a portrait done, please contact Gallery XII.
